GCTU MAY DAY APPEAL-2013

Each year the world of work observes universally its main holiday, the International Day of Workers’ Solidarity.
This year’s May Day will be the first to be marked after the GCTU 7th Congress, at which the affiliates of the Confederation outlined the guidelines for their common struggle to protect workers’ rights in the forthcoming five-year period.

MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY TO EUROPEAN TRADE UNION CONFEDERATION

In connection with the 40th anniversary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) to be marked 7 February 2013, GCTU General Secretary Vladimir Scherbakov sent the following message of solidarity to  ETUC General Secretary Bernadette Segol:

The General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU), on behalf of its member organisations, sends warm fraternal greetings to delegates and guests of the 26th  Congress of the Pancyprian Federation of Labour, and wishes them successful and fruitful work for the benefit of PEO members  and all workers in Cyprus.

STATEMENT BY THE GENERAL CONFEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE SITUATION AROUND THE GAZA STRIP

The trade union movement of the Commonwealth of Independent States is deeply alarmed by reports about the recent sharp escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip. As a result of bombing and shelling, many innocent civilians have been killed there, among them women and children, and a number of civilian facilities, including social institutions, have been destroyed.

GCTU EXPRESSES ITS FULL SUPPORT OF THE PROTEST ACTIONS THAT SWEPT ACROSS EUROPE

On the 20th of November 2012, General Secretary of the GCTU Vladimir Scherbakov sent a message to his counterpart in the ETUC which reads as follows:

The international trade union movement will observe the traditional World Day for Decent Work (WDDW) on the 7th of October, 2012.

APPEAL BY THE COUNCIL OF THE GENERAL CONFEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS TO THE WORLD’S TRADE UNIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GCTU

6 April 2012 marks 20 years of the General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU) affiliating trade unions in the New Independent States that emerged on the post-Soviet territory.

GCTU CONDEMNS PROSECUTION OF UNION ACTIVISTS IN GREECE

In connection with the ongoing trial of trade unionists in Greece, the General Confederation of Trade Unions sent the following message of protest to the Greek Prime Minister Loukas Papademos.
